Here at Preuss Pets, we specialize in reef aquaria teeming with all sorts of fauna from starfish to beautiful sea anemones and elegant surgeonfish. Have you thought about keeping a saltwater aquarium but heard it was to much work? Innovations in keeping aquariums have made saltwater aquariums an affordable and reliable display to maintain even without prior experience. Ask us just how easy it is to get started!
Healthy fish -
We're dedicated to providing the healthiest fish possible for your aquariums. We start by hand selecting only the best fish from the best suppliers. These fish are then quarantined on site, where they are carefully acclimated and placed under close observation until they are ready for sale. Once the fish have been here for at least a week, and are eating well, and showing no signs of disease or stress, they are moved out to the sales floor and are ready to go home with you.
Excellent staff -
The staff in our marine department consists of friendly, enthusiastic hobbyists - with aquatics professionals and MSU biology academics always nearby. We strive to offer expert advice on setting up and maintaining your first marine aquarium, advanced reefkeeping, and all the way up to stunning, large-volume, public installations in restaurants, hotels, and offices.
Top of the line equipment -
Every year our senior staff attends industry trade shows and conferences to stay up to date with the latest innovations in aquarium keeping. We sift through the massive amount of products and pick out the best performing and most cost effective products for our customers. We then take efforts to continually educate the entire staff on these new products so we can continue to provide our customers with the most up to date information. If you're in the store and don't see a particular product line, feel free to ask us about it as some products are kept in the back of the store.
Livestock selection and coral propagation
With several thousand gallons of saltwater in the showroom, we maintain a vast display of many types of live corals, fish and other invertebrates. The majority of our selection of soft and stony corals, are captive propagated to produce more durable specimens, and reduce our impact on the world's reefs. We produce many of these corals from our on site propagation facility using state of the art methods of coral farming and fragmentation.
